A scanner can tell you an image is missing its description. It cannot tell you the description is wrong. That gap — between what a machine detects and what a person understands — is why human review exists. We are building a workforce of people with lived experience of disability to close it, in partnership with the charities that serve them.
There is a reason lived experience cannot be automated. A reviewer who navigates with a screen reader notices in seconds what a checklist misses — focus order that doesn't match reading order, alt text that describes the wrong thing, a form error that is announced but not actionable. That judgement turns a score into an assurance you can defend. And it will be paid work: the insight is the product, billed per page on a cost-recovery basis — never for profit. Every reviewer is certified through the Ascent Web Accessibility Program.
Every criterion the engine and AI cannot decide is flagged "Cannot tell". When human review launches, a reviewer whose own experience matches the barrier will resolve each one — Passed, Failed, or Not present — with a written rationale, against the exact page snapshot captured at assessment time. So the result is reproducible, even if the live site changes.
A signed, dated conformance evaluation report, structured like an assurance engagement: scope, evaluators, review process, per-criterion results, a conformance claim, and key findings — in-app and as a PDF, with a VPAT/ACR export for procurement.
You can already run a free assessment and get a partial, automated result — clearly marked as such — with a suggested fix for each issue. Independent human review completes the picture when it launches.
